Shettima Assures Nigerians Tinubu’s Programs, Policies Are Focused On Country’s Betterment

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday stressed that all the programs and policies by President Bola Tinubu were implemented for the betterment of the people.

Speaking at the APC Professionals Forum's Policy Roundtable Conference on the "Asiwaju Score Card Series," the vice president noted that every country had a distinct journey and was shaped by its economic history and challenges.

"We respect the efforts of other nations, but we are focused on what works best for Nigeria," he said, as per the official statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter). "These initiatives are not just plans on paper; they are actions being implemented to create tangible improvements in the lives of everyday Nigerians."

Shettima, who was represented by Special Adviser to the President on General Duties (Office of the Vice President) Aliyu Modibbo, shared that the eight-point agenda of the Tinubu administration ensured a clear path for its policies and programs.

These policies and programs will ensure "job creation, economic growth, food security, poverty eradication, access to capital, the rule of law, anti-corruption efforts, and inclusive development."

The vice president highlighted the administration's investments in agriculture and other sectors aimed at reducing reliance on imports and boosting local production. He further said the ongoing Renewed Hope Housing Scheme will help address the housing shortage and stimulate economic growth.

"Similarly, we are also focused on reducing unemployment and underemployment through various initiatives, including the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative, Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises, and the Expanded National MSME Clinics. These programs are designed to create more job opportunities and foster economic inclusivity," he said.

Shettima also mentioned that the administration's dedication to education was clear from the launch of the student loan scheme, which was led by Jim Ovia, who was appointed to head the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

He shared that this initiative will help to empower the youth and ensure that they have the resources needed to succeed, noting that it will "offer interventions to vulnerable or disadvantaged Nigerians without discrimination or favoritism."

Tinubu-led administration ensures integrity in its activities and provides transparency, which was promised to Nigerians, as per the vice president.

While he acknowledged the ongoing hardship of Nigerians due to fuel subsidy removal causing increased food and fuel prices, he assured that the efforts will give a bright future to the country.
