President Tinubu Appoints InfraCorp To Lead Development Of Evergreen City

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday appointed the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) to lead and develop Evergreen City, the country's green industrial zone.

This decision is aligned with the president's commitment to promote industrial development that addresses current and future needs.

The corporation will be responsible for various tasks, including choosing partners and consultants to perform critical development activities such as project design, environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, financial modeling and market engagement.

Aside from this, the corporation will also raise private funding for the city and constituent development projects alongside coordinating with partners, development institutions and other providers of capital and technical assistance.

Furthermore, InfraCorp will report to the Supervisory Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

The CEO of InfraCorp, Lazarus Angbazo, had previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of General Electric (GE) in Nigeria, where he doubled the multinational appliance company's revenue, as per the official State House website.

Angbazoa also served as the CEO of General Electric Grid Solutions Africa and led GE's regional operations from 2008 and 2012 as President and CEO of West, East & Central Africa.

Aside from this, Tinubu also approved the creation of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, which will serve as the supervisory technical working group.

11. Teni Majekodunmi (NCCC) – Member

12. Nana Maidugu (NSIA) – Member

13. Michael Ivenso (NCCC) – Member

14. Suleiman Yusuf (Blue Camel Energy) – Member

15. Chidi Ajaere (Jet EV) – Member

According to the Special Adviser to the President Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the president expects complete dedication and professionalism to make this project a success, noting that the goal is to turn Nigeria into Africa's leading manufacturing hub for renewable energy technologies, green solutions and climate-adaptation technologies.
