President Tinubu Introduces 7 New Ministers To Key Roles, Including Labor And Trade

President Bola Tinubu on Monday introduced seven new ministers, who were confirmed by the Senate, at the State House.

Nentawe Yilwatda was introduced as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, while Muhammadu Dingyadi became Minister of Labor and Employment and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs portfolio went to Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Furthermore, Jumoke Oduwole has been appointed as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment while Idi Maiha was the new Minister of Livestock Development. Yusuf Ata will serve as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development and Suwaiba Ahmad was appointed the Minister of State for Education, as per the official statement shared on X.

During the ceremony, Tinubu told Nigerians that his administration's plan to improve the economy was on track. The president emphasized that his administration was responsible for preventing Nigeria from going bankrupt, in addition to putting a stop to those who exploit and steal the nation's resources.

Tinubu urged the newly introduced ministers to be dedicated to their roles, while acknowledging that the current situation was difficult and required strong commitment.

He emphasized that they must serve the nation and expressed appreciation for their willingness to take the oath of office during such challenging times, which included issues related to economic growth and security.

The president recognized that living costs have increased, but he noted that they have fulfilled their obligation to implement a new minimum wage for everyone. Tinubu explained that it was a major challenge for the country when 97% of its revenue was going toward paying off debt.

However, he reported that his administration has reduced this figure to 65% and it had never failed to meet their payment obligations, both foreign and domestic. He stated the government was managing to stay afloat.

He noted that the economic difficulties were not unique to Nigeria, adding that there were substantial crises in Europe and America, and the global economy was affected by the pandemic.

Tinubu assured everyone that his administration was committed to overcoming these challenges and will not shy away from their responsibilities; instead, they were confronting the issues head-on.
