President Bola Tinubu Appeals For Tolerance, Patience On Eid al-Adha

President Bola Tinubu appealed for tolerance and patience in the wake of Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Tinubu, who celebrated his first Eid al-Adha as a president of Nigeria, noted that there is "no greater sense of duty ever recorded in history outside the ennobling example of Prophet Ibrahim in offering his only son Ismail as a sacrifice to Allah," Punch reported.

He noted that as many people in Nigeria are filled with joy and celebrating this occasion, there are people less fortunate than them. The president explained that he is aware of the economic challenges in the country alongside "simmering security challenges."

President Tinubu assured that his administration is working towards ensuring ease for the citizens and making their future better.

"I want to assure you that they are not insurmountable," he added. "I am working day and night with my team, fleshing out solutions. We have started with the decisions taken so far to reform our economy and remove all impediments to growth."

The Christian Association of Nigeria's President Archbishop Daniel Okoh also felicitated Muslims on the occasion and urged all Muslims to use the Eid celebration to "pray for the peace and prosperity" of Nigeria.

He also asked all the Nigerians to pray for the country's leaders as they work for the nation. Archbishop Okoh shared that if Nigerians put their differences aside and come together to build a stronger nation, then Nigeria can achieve its full potential.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also urged everyone to pray for the success of Nigerian leaders "as they move to tackle the challenges facing the country, counting on the prayers and support of the people."

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki requested all Nigerians to work together, no matter what ethno-religious inclinations they have, in order to ensure the country's progress.

All Progressives Congress (APC) took this opportunity to wish all Muslims Eid al-Adha and also praised the president's electoral victory on Feb. 25.

"Events in the last one year have further indicated that Nigeria is a divine project as we have been made to appreciate the good plan of Allah (God) for our dear country," APC's Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare said, Vanguard reported.

He continued, "The dramatic emergence of the best individual as the APC presidential candidate from a crowd of good aspirants. His electoral victory on February 25 and inauguration as the 16th President of the country, against all odds, remain pointers to the fact that God is involved."

President Tinubu's inauguration took place on May 29, after former president, Muhammadu Buhari stepped down from his position.
