NSCDC Warns Oil Thieves, Asks To Relocate To Other Countries

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)'s Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi warned the oil thieves to leave the country while directing his personnel to ensure that these oil thieves are arrested.

"Don't forget we are the lead agency in the protection of critical assets," Audi said during the Passing Out Parade of Course 10 held on Monday in Abuja, Punch reported. "We must protect and infrastructure of the nation one of which is the fuel pipelines."

The commandant general also pointed out that President Bola Tinubu also has a strong stand against these oil thieves. Hence, there should be no compromise, he added.

"The body language of President Bola Tinubu shows he means well for Nigeria in ensuring an end to oil theft, and the NSCDC has aligned into his vision," he explained. "We know the stands of the president on oil thefts. There should be no compromise."

He went on to ask his personnel to "dedicate" themselves and do their best to reduce and if possible, completely eradicate oil theft.

"You must arrest oil thieves and those vandalizing our pipelines and we shall get them," he continued. "We advised them those who want to continue to launch mayhem on our pipelines to relocate to other countries otherwise we will go after them and arrest all of them."

The commandant general also warned that there shouldn't be any accidental discharge after arresting the culprit, noting that if any of his personnel is found in such an act, then they will be court-martialled.

"We now have a Standard of Operations guiding our activities in the service," he said. "You will be court-martialed. In that way discipline in the service. This service does not condone accidental discharge."

He added, "If you make a mistake and become trigger-happy then you kill a citizen you will face the wrath of the SOP. Please be careful when you are with your riffle. You are trained to handle a rifle and not to kill unless otherwise. This means you can only kill when you know the person wants to kill you on the battlefield."

The Course 10 training was part of a continuous training program, which is about eight weeks long and it is focused on making officers fit for every task given to them.

"The training and retraining of the personnel have endeared my administration to the men and officers of the corps and the general public alike," he shared, TheGuardian reported. "Aside the training of over 10,000 officers and men in Arms and Weapon Handling, other specialized areas have been created and keenly nurtured."

These specialized areas include CG's Intelligence Squad, CG's Anti-Vandal Squad, CG's Marine Squad, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Female Squad, Crack Squad, and the Safe School Initiative saddled with the responsibility of safeguarding schools from outlaws.
