Tinubu, Netherlands Prime Minister Discuss Nigeria’s Clean Energy Potential

President Bola Tinubu met with the Netherlands Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, to discuss Nigeria's potential in the future of clean energy future.

During a meeting with Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte at The Hague, the president mentioned that Nigeria has huge potential in various areas and assured that the African country was open to making changes to attract more investments.

"Taking a holistic view of the world order, there is a tremendous opportunity between us across trade spheres but especially in solid minerals, where we have high-grade lithium deposits that we know can power the clean energy future of the world," Tinubu said, as per the official statement.

He added, "There is excellent value-additive opportunity in Nigeria. The world knows us for oil. They will soon know us for greater innovative exploits in other areas. We have an extremely dynamic youth population in Nigeria. It is a young country."

The president pointed out that 70% of Nigerians were under the age of 30, adding that the country's 200 million citizens represent its massive workforce and market for Dutch and other international investors.

He stressed on making young Nigerians believe that they can have a bright future within the country rather than leaving the country, expanding that Lawful migration of trained Nigerians will help Europe and the fear of irregular migration will be reduced.

Tinubu said that his administration is determined to offer student loans and new credit options to improve our people's skills and help them achieve a better life with their legitimate incomes. He said the country will see economic transformation, crediting the young generation of Nigeria.

During the meeting, he also highlighted the ongoing hardship of Nigerians, calling it "short-term pain."

"I am a determined leader of my people. I have and will continue to take the difficult decisions that will benefit our people, even if there is short-term pain. We have gone through the worst of the storms," he said, adding that he is not afraid of consequences as he believes his actions will be beneficial in the long run.

The president claimed that Nigerian Naira is one of the world's best-performing currencies today.

In his remarks, the Dutch prime minister praised Tinubu's economic reforms for boosting confidence among international investors in the Nigerian economy, announcing new investments worth $250 million in the next months.

This investment includes $100 million for a waste-to-wealth industrial facility in Lagos State.

Tinubu's Netherlands visit began on Tuesday and he is expected to leave for Saudi Arabia to participate in a special World Economic Forum (WEF) gathering scheduled for April 28 and April 29.
