Tinubu-Led Administration Committed To Empowering Nigeria’s Youth: Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima said that President Bola Tinubu-led administration was dedicated to helping Nigerian youths succeed and contribute to the country's progress.

During a visit from the National Youth Council of Nigeria's (NYCN) National Executive Council, led by President Comrade Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, the vice president made these comments, highlighting that NYCN is all set to celebrate its 60th anniversary in November.

NYCN was established on Aug. 28, 1964, in Lagos.

"We cannot thank you enough for keeping the hope alive for the Nigerian youth. We identify with you; we empathize with you because the future of this nation belongs to you," Shettima said, as per the official State House website.

"We are one of the youngest nations on the planet and the youths constitute nearly 75% of our population. Once we engage the youths, once we give them hope for a better tomorrow, all the madness pervading this land will dissipate."

He praised the organization for remaining vibrant for 60 years and still standing on its feet.

The vice president thanked the NYCN for believing in the Nigeria Project, adding that many young people have left the country, but the members of this organization chose to stay and work together for the future of the country.

Furthermore, the vice president mentioned that Tinubu set up a ministry specifically for young people and appointed two young individuals to lead it, while Shettima also appointed many young people to important roles in his office, showing the government's commitment to empowering youth in Nigeria.

He told the NYCN delegation that there were a series of opportunities lined up such as the iDICE project that will create digital jobs, including the ones in the creative industry.

Sara-Igbe Sukubo, on the other hand, expressed the council's readiness to collaborate with the federal government to fight against the issue of illegal oil theft across the country.

"We have decided to see how we can help this country in areas of oil theft that have been ravaging this nation," the National President of NYCN said, adding that "the NYCN has decided that it's a collective effort, and we are ready to partner with the government to address this illegality."
