President Tinubu Swears In New Head Of Civil Service, Urges Integrity And Transparency

President Bola Tinubu held a Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday in Abuja, where he swore in Esther Didi Walson-Jack as the new head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Tinubu urged Walson-Jack to serve the country with integrity and transparency. Aside from this, he also praised Folashade Yemi-Esan, the outgoing head of the Civil Service, calling her tenure exceptional.

"We must learn from her commitment to duty, loyalty, and great vision. She served our nation exceptionally well with dedication, guiding the civil service through significant transformation and reforms," he said, as per the State House's official website.

"Her dedication to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and professionalism has set a high standard for public administration in this country. As she steps down, we express our deep gratitude for her unwavering commitment and the significant impact she has made in our country. We thank you very much."

Walson-Jack also spoke during the ceremony, thanking Tinubu for trusting her. She also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Head of the Civil Service for her mentorship and guidance throughout Walson-Jack's career.

Walson-Jack shared her plan to build on existing reforms to make the civil service more effective and efficient, and contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which was introduced in 2022 during the presidential campaign of Tinubu.

She began her public service career as a state counsel in Rivers State in 1992 and later became the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State. Aside from this, she has also held important roles in various ministries including Power, Water Resources, Education and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service.

Furthermore, Walson-Jack is known for her work on initiatives like the Federal Integrated Staff Housing Programme and her contributions to labor relations and the national minimum wage.

Moreover, she is an Officer of the Order of the Niger and a graduate of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
