President Tinubu Hails National Assembly’s Support, Aims To Lead Nigeria To ‘Promised Land’

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday said his administration is motivated by the support it has received from the National Assembly over the past 19 months and is focused on leading Nigeria to the "promised land."

During a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima, the leaders of the National Assembly, and former National Assembly officers in Lagos, the president said, "Nigerians are the heart of everything we are doing. We have come to serve," as per the official statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"The transformative journey we have embarked upon is for all of us. It is for our tomorrow. It is for the future generation. Your commitment will yield that fruit for the babies yet unborn. Your commitment to value addition and bringing about the spirit of can do and must do is for all of us together," he said.

The president thanked the lawmakers for their support and promised to work harder, make bold decisions and stay open to new ideas to drive national progress. He used a Yoruba saying to emphasize the importance of courage in achieving goals.

President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio praised Tinubu for his courage and commitment to reform. He assured the president that the National Assembly fully supports his administration in the effort to restore, transform, and rebuild the nation.

Akpabio praised the positive economic progress under President Tinubu's leadership, mentioning achievements like the oversubscription of Nigeria's Eurobond, improvements in business conditions, and growing confidence from foreign investors.

He also acknowledged the president's bold reforms and expressed confidence that the benefits will continue to unfold. Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas thanked the president for his respect and support for the National Assembly.

Abbas noted that many important figures in the administration, including the president, vice president, and several ministers, were former National Assembly members. He highlighted the unity and fulfillment within the National Assembly, praising the president for always meeting their requests.

Last month, Tinubu urged the media to support his administration's proposed tax reforms, calling the latter a foundation for creating lasting wealth and prosperity for all Nigerians.
