President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday made a major cabinet reshuffle as he reassigned 10 ministers to new positions, let go of five others and nominated seven ministers for the Senate confirmation.

During this reshuffle, the president changed the name of the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development to the Ministry of Regional Development, removed the Ministry of Sports Development and combined the Ministries of Tourism and Arts and Culture into the new Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy.

This decision came after the 19th meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House in Abuja. The presidency shared details of the reshuffle in a statement titled "Statement on the restructuring of Ministries and Ministerial Portfolios."

The statement said these important actions were intended to improve the government's ability to work effectively and fulfill President Tinubu's promises to the people of Nigeria.

The ministers who lost their jobs include Uju-Kennedy-Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development) and Abdullahi Gwarzo (State for Housing and Urban Development).

"The President thanked the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service to the nation while wishing them the best in their future endeavours," according to the official statement issued on X.

Tinubu also assigned new roles to 10 ministers in his cabinet. According to the presidency, the current Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, is now the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, became the Minister of Education. The Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Goronyo, was now the Minister of State for Works.

The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has been renamed the Minister of Regional Development and will oversee all the Regional Development Commissions.

The commissions under the new Regional Development ministry will include the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, the North East Development Commission, and the North West Development Commission.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Steel Development, Uba Ahmadu, was now the Minister of State for Regional Development. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, will now serve as the Minister of State for Finance.

John Enoh, the former Minister of Sports Development, took over the State for Trade and Investment portfolio. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the former Minister of State for Police Affairs, has been named the Minister of Women Affairs.

Ayodele Olawande, who was the Minister of State for Youth Development, became the Minister for Youth Development. Dr. Salako Adeboye, the former Minister of State for Environment, was now the Minister of State for Health.
