President Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday, warned the security agencies to remain apolitical during the 2023 General Elections.

"Under no circumstances should they get involved in anything that could compromise the democratic process, or bring disrepute to their institutions and Nigeria," said President Buhari in a tweet.

President Buhari called on security agencies to provide support with distributing and monitoring classified materials and other logistics. He warned that these activities must be carried out "professionally and following Standing Operation Procedures."

"I, therefore, urge you to remain apolitical and desist from behavior that could bring disrepute to the agency and our country by compromising democracy," he added, as per Punch.

The president made these remarks while inaugurating the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) Estate at Idu-Karmo in Abuja, according to a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Furthermore, the president noted that the newly acquired DIA accommodation would promote productivity and collaboration among staff members of the agency.

"The significance of today's occasion can be better understood by making the connection between shelter and productivity. This underpins the administration's vision for the provision of shelter to improve performance as well as comfort for workers, families, and communities," he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, President Buhari declared that he is a very difficult person to satisfy as a public officer, Vanguard reported.

"Those who work with me know that I am very difficult to satisfy," the president said after decorating the newly promoted Commander, Brigade of Guards, Major Gen. Mohammed Usman at a short ceremony, Wednesday.

"But I have never had any reason, whatsoever, to report you to the Chief of Army Staff or the Minister of Defence."

"Nobody has been able to touch me while you are here, I'm absolutely satisfied with your performance," he added.

President Buhari praised the newly promoted commander as an excellent officer who served the country with great passion, whilst being assisted by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, and the wife of the Commander, Rekiya Usman.
