Nigerian Army Kills Terrorist Buharin Yadi’s Ally

The Nigerian Army on Monday disclosed that the security forces eliminated a terrorist identified as a cohort of notorious terrorist commander Buharin Yadi, who was recently killed.

As per the statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the troops -- deployed for special patrols to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all residents -- killed the terrorist.

"The terrorist met his water loo when troops projecting fighting patrol to Kidandan, a village in the Giwa LGA, spotted him speeding off on a motorbike, in an attempt to evade the approaching patrol," the Nigerian Army mentioned. "The vigilant troops swiftly pursued the terrorist, causing him to abandon his motorbike and fled into a nearby settlement."

Despite attempts to escape, the troops continued to pursue him until they caught and stopped him as he tried to flee into the bush on the outskirts of the community. They also found a motorbike, two bags of corn flour, and a mobile phone that he had abandoned.

Currently, the troops are maintaining a strong presence in the area to ensure a peaceful celebration of Sallah in Giwa Local Government Area.

The execution took place a day before terrorists killed six people after invading Dudun Doki in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The locals said the attackers stormed the community at approximately 1:30 a.m. and kidnapped several people. The police spokesperson in Sokoto Ahmed Rufa'i confirmed the incident and said six bodies had been recovered but the police were still finding out how many people had been abducted.

Sokoto and Kaduna, located in Nigeria's North-west region, are facing security threats from armed individuals known locally as bandits, who operate camps in a vast forest that spans across Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger states.

They have been involved in extensive kidnappings, particularly targeting students from schools in these areas. Earlier this year, President Bola Tinubu announced that the federal government won't pay any ransom to release kidnapped people.

The announcement came in March after terrorists abducted at least 100 people including students and teachers in an attack on a public primary school.
