In order to reduce unemployment and crime rate in Nigeria, China will be training 3,000 Nigerian youths for cultural tourism to boost Nigeria's economy.

Otunba Segun Runsewe, who serves as the Director- General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and led an African delegation to the International Culture Tourism Reform for Developing Nations, shared this on Wednesday during the Academic International for International Business Officials (AIBO) and Chinese Government meeting in Beijing, China.

After attending the meeting, Runsewe explained the importance of this training, noting that Nigerian youth will get exposure in China and they will learn new skills - not just limited to the cultural tourism economy but will also learn advanced technology and innovative ideas.

"The meetings were strategic, successful, and eye opener to how our youths can benefit from training by the Chinese government who are ready to partner and support us to bring about 3,000 youths from Nigeria at first instance to undergo diverse areas of trainings in area such as manufacturing of chips and even on electrical car production," Runsewe said, TheNation reported.

He added, "It will be a new beginning for us as a nation and for our young persons as the collaboration will bear verifiable gains to our immediate and future capacity-building ecosystem in cultural tourism and technology ecosystems."

According to the Director-General, China will train 100 young people from every state, hoping that this will reduce the unemployment and crime rate in those states. Moreover, Runsewe disclosed that this opportunity would favor rural development.

Runsewe further shared how excited he is about this training program for the youth of Nigeria.

"It is no elephant project, and we know how committed the Chinese are to promises to us a nation, and this is certainly huge," he added. "On arrival back in Nigeria, we shall, in earnest, put up strategies to actualize these milestones."

During Runsewe's presentation, he urged the government to pay attention to public washrooms as no tourist wants to visit a place or destination with a dirty washroom, noting that tourist wants to visit those places that are not only good-looking but also has good cleanliness.

This training program was announced a few days after Nigerians protested against the government to stop illegal Chinese miners in Osun and Lagos. Many social media users trended the hashtag #StopChineseIllegalMining on Twitter earlier this week.

The Governor-elect, Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago spoke on behalf of the Niger State Government last week and said Chinese illegal mining has caused damage to Nigeria's National monument at Zuma Rock.
