Babajide Sanwo-Olu Appeals People To Support His Bid For Second Term

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the residents of Eti-Osa to vote for his second term ahead of governorship and state House of Assembly elections, which will be held on March 11.

The 57-year-old governor wrote a letter, detailing his achievements which included attracting billions of dollars into major manufacturing and infrastructure projects over the last four years.

"I am asking you to please join hands with us to continue this special journey of achieving our collective vision of a Greater Lagos," the governor wrote in the letter accessed by Vanguard Tuesday. "We have, over the last four years, left no doubt as to how deeply committed we are, in our quest to positively transform the fortunes of Lagos State on behalf of all its people."

Sanwo-Olu, who became Governor of Lagos State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in October 2019, pointed out that "regardless of how we may have wanted the presidential elections to go, we are all united, as Lagosians, by the compelling dream of a Greater Lagos."

Presidential elections were held in the country on Feb. 25, following which APC candidate Bola Tinubu was named as the winner after he received 8,794,726 votes.

However, People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Gregory Obi, who were Tinubu's opponents, denied accepting the election outcome announced by the INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission). They further said they will challenge INEC's decision in court.

Sanwo-Olu shared he's inviting everyone to support him for "bettering" the state as he promised to continue serving the citizens with "seriousness and diligence."

Explaining his future plans regarding the state's improvement, he said, "there are many more transformational projects and programs that space will not permit me to outline here, that will yield massive dividends for all of us in Lagos State in the years and decades ahead."

Sanwo-Olu pointed out that the first Phase of the Blue Line Rail has been completed, and the Red Line will be finalized very soon. Providing an update on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the governor said that the section from Ajah to Epe T-Junction is undergoing reconstruction and the stretch between Eleko Junction and Epe has been completed.

He also revealed that the government is investing in new hospitals, upgrading public schools, and providing digital tools to empower teachers and pupils and improve teaching and learning outcomes.

Sanwo-Olu claimed, under his governance, the state managed to attract "billions of dollars into major infrastructure and manufacturing projects" including the newly commissioned Lekki Deep Sea Port, which will eventually help in creating thousands of jobs and improving the economy.

"I seek from you the opportunity to complete these laudable projects and programs, and many more, which you can make possible by re-electing me as Governor of Lagos State on March 11, 2023," the governor continued.

In conclusion, Sanwo-Olu thanked everyone and noted that he is willing to serve the people of his state again with "humility, passion, and diligence, for the next four years."
