Tinubu Calls On Christian Association To Unite Against Corruption In Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to support the fight against corruption in the country. He emphasized that his administration is committed to setting the country right for the prosperity of all Nigerians.

Tinubu received a delegation of the CAN led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, on Monday, and urged the religious association to encourage Nigerians to change their mindset in money-related matters. He highlighted the crucial role of religious leaders in fostering unity and peace in the country.

The president emphasized that religious leaders should preach the sermon of understanding, tolerance, perseverance, and hope. He warned that failure to do so would damage the country and hinder Nigerians from repairing it.

"Let us dialogue because public condemnation of a nation is not what makes any citizen a good one. We must admonish Nigerians to have a change of mindset and not to make money our god or master. I believe we will get to the Promised Land, and Nigeria will flourish, he said, as per official X handle, formerly known as Twitter.

Tinubu assured CAN that his administration is willing to listen to the association's concerns. He urged religious leaders to inform him if they observe any inadequacies in his government.

"I am here today because of your prayers and the will of God Almighty. What I have challenged myself to do each day is to be fair to all Nigerians. I have had a number of criticisms, including the rationale behind the size of my cabinet," he said.

"Nigeria needs to turn the corner to grow, and we must give people challenges they can manage, and that is what we are doing," the president added.

On the other hand, Archbishop Okoh urged Tinubu to continue his efforts in providing good governance. He emphasized the need for security, inclusivity, and peaceful coexistence in the country.

"We believe that you have the sagacity to give leadership in battling our challenges and in turning around the fortunes of our nation, Nigeria, within a short time. You have shown that you are a listening leader, and we appreciate this," he said.

Archbishop Okoh added that CAN is always ready to collaborate with the government in nation-building for the betterment of Nigerians.
