President of the Senate of Nigeria, Godswill Akpabio, has announced the full list of lawmakers, consisting of eight Senate majority and minority leaders for the 10th Senate.

The announcement, made on Tuesday, disclosed that four majority leaders emerged from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while other four minority leaders belonged to various opposition parties.

1. Opeyemi Bamidele - Senate Majority Leader (Ekiti Central, APC)

2. Dave Umahi – Deputy Majority Leader (Ebonyi South, APC)

3. Ali Ndume – Chief Whip (Borno South, APC)

4. Lola Ashiru – Deputy Whip (Kwara South, APC)

5. Mwadkwon Davou – Senate Minority Leader (Plateau North, PDP)

6. Kamorudeen Olarere – Deputy Minority Leader (Osun West, PDP)

7. Darlington Nwokeocha – Senate Minority Whip (Abia Central, LP)

8. Rufai Hanga – Deputy Minority Whip (Kano Central, NNPP).

Following the announcement, APC's Senator Abdullahi Adamu shared his disappointment over the list of new leaders and said, it is nothing but a rumor.

"I have just heard a rumor now from the online media that there have been some announcements in the Senate and House of Representatives," he said, Punch reported. "The national headquarters of the party of the NWC has not given any such information or communicated about the choice of offices."

He explained that until this matter is resolved and communicated in writing, which is the norm and practice, this list will not be accepted.

Adamu went on to share that everyone will be "formally" informed about the caucus, adding that there has been no caucus in place for now.

"The caucus has been reconstituted according to the constitution of APC," he continued. "And we will be discussing that with you as governors, you know your states more than we know it. Even if we come from the same state, the leadership is in you as governors."

Bamidele opened up about this matter and said, "There is no way the party can claim not to be aware of the emergence of the leadership of the majority leadership," adding that the list has mentioned those officials who visited President Tinubu during Sallah festivities in Lagos.

"Before we went to the APC chairman, we went to see the President in Lagos and also consulted with him," he added. "The new leadership has emerged for the 10th senate and all I can assure you on behalf of myself and my dear colleagues is that we see it as an assignment. It is an assignment that we take very seriously."
