President Tinubu Names New Executive Directors Under Federal Ministry Of Marine And Blue Economy

President Bola Tinubu named six new executive directors in two agencies under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy on Thursday.

Vivian C. Richard Edet, executive director of finance & administration; Olalekan Badmus, executive director of marine and operations and Ibrahim Abba Umar, executive director of engineering and technical services were appointed for the Nigerian Ports Authority agency.

Meanwhile, Jibril Abba, executive director of maritime labour & cabotage services; Chudi Offodile, executive director of finance & administration and Fatai Taye Adeyemi, executive director of operations were appointed for the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president, issued a statement on X to share that the president had approved these appointments with "firm belief" and "after studying their impressive profiles."

"The new appointees will expeditiously and efficiently execute on their collective mandate to create the conditions required to significantly raise the contribution of the Marine & Blue Economy sector to the nation's GDP while evolving the Nigerian economy into a labor-intensive," Ngelale said on behalf of the president.

The statement further mentioned that the new appointees will help create "new opportunity for all Nigerians in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda, under the able guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola."

Before taking office in May 2023, Tinubu announced 14 names for the Presidential Inauguration Committee to ensure a seamless transition. He also appointed Femi Gbajabiamila, former speaker of the House of Representatives, as the chief of staff while naming Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former deputy governor of Jigawa State, deputy chief of staff.

Tinubu also replaced all the chief of defense staff alongside the nation's service chiefs and the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali.

The president has so far made some shocking announcements during his term, including fuel subsidy removal and the addition of a 7.5% VAT on diesel.
