President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is all set to depart for India on Monday in order to attend the two-day G20 summit, where he will aim to attract investments.

Special Adviser to the President, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement on Sunday, revealing that the president's top agenda to attend the G20 summit will be to attract more investments in Nigeria as the mega event will be attended by 19 countries and the European Union.

The two-day summit will be held in New Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. On the sidelines of the event, the president will participate and deliver keynote addresses at both the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and the Nigeria-India Business Conference.

Leading industrialists in the Indian private sector and Nigerian industrialists, alongside senior government officials from both countries will be attending the CEO Roundtable.

"The President aims to leverage this platform to attract global capital and promote increased foreign direct investments in key labor-intensive sectors of Nigeria's economy for job creation and revenue expansion," the Special Adviser to the President noted, Punch reported.

The statement further mentioned that President Tinubu will use this opportunity to present "Nigeria's attractiveness as an investment destination, specifically outlining his cross-sectoral reform plan as encapsulated by the Renewed Hope Agenda."

It noted that the president has "renowned experience" of getting more investments to the Lagos State during his tenure as the governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007.

The President's itinerary includes attending bilateral meetings with a cross-section of world leaders from four different continents, representing both G20 and non-G20 countries. These engagements will help Nigeria to strengthen its bilateral economic, trade, and investment partnerships with other countries.

G20 Summit consists of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States alongside the European Union.

The G20 members represent up to 80% of the global GDP, 75% of international trade, and housing 60% of the world's population.

"While Nigeria's membership of the G-20 is desirable, the government has embarked on wide-ranging consultations with a view to ascertaining the benefits and risks of membership," it added.

Following the consultations, the Nigerian government will decide whether the country wants to be a part of G20 or not.

Considering Tinubu's visit to India, he will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani and Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite.
