President Tinubu Directs Security Agencies To Immediately Rescue Kidnapped Students, Teachers From Kaduna

President Bola Tinubu ordered security agencies to immediately rescue students and teachers who were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Kaduna State.

During a meeting with the State Governor Uba Sani, security agencies, traditional rulers, and some affected parents from the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State over the weekend, Tinubu noted that security agencies won't leave any stone unturned.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented Tinubu during the meeting, assured parents alongside others that all kidnapped individuals would return home safely.

"I am here at the behest of His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, to empathize, to solidarize with the government and people of Kaduna over the sad incident of the kidnapping of our school kids," Shettima said, as per the statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday.

He added, "The President was personally pained by what happened and he has instructed the security agencies to leave no stone unturned until we return our kids to their parents. He (President) is in regular contact with the governor of Kaduna State."

According to Shettima, the president spoke with the governor of Kaduna State four times, adding that Tinubu spoke about rescuing kids three times with the vice president.

The vice president pointed out that "discretion is better" and appealed to all stakeholders in the Nigeria project to be very selective in the "choice of reporting for the interest of our kids who are not currently with us."

"Once again, on behalf of my principal, President Tinubu, please, accept our heartfelt sympathy over the travails that have befallen our people. Be rest assured that the President is equal to the tasks. The very essence of the existence of government is to secure the lives and property of the citizenry," he said.

"He has tasked the entire security architecture in the country to go all out and get back our kids safely."

Governor Sani also spoke during the meeting and thanked the president for his concern and efforts. He urged the media to join hands with the government to get rid of such criminals from the country.

Terrorists abducted at least 100 people, including students and teachers, in an attack on a public primary school on March 8.
