President Tinubu Departs On Official Visit To The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia

President Bola Tinubu has left Nigeria for his two official visits: one to the Netherlands for a high-level discussion with the prime minister and another one to Saudi Arabia to attend a special World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting.

The president will first visit the Netherlands on Tuesday following the invitation of Prime Minister Mark Rutte to engage in high-level discussions. Tinubu will also meet the King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Kingdom in a separate meeting.

The Queen is the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), as per the official statement shared by Presidency Nigeria on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Tinubu is also expected to participate in the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum, allowing heads of conglomerates and organizations in the two countries to collaborate on opportunities, especially in the agriculture and water management area to find innovative solutions for sustainable farming practices.

The president will also have in-depth talks with Dutch officials regarding port management, benefiting from their globally recognized expertise in this field.

Following these discussions, the Nigerian President will head to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to participate in a special World Economic Forum (WEF) gathering scheduled for April 28 and April 29.

During the World Economic Forum meeting, the focus will remain on Global Collaboration, Growth and Energy for Development. The Nigerian president will be using this opportunity to engage with more than 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia to discuss his Renewed Hope Agenda for the country.

Tinubu will be accompanied by senior government officials and some ministers during his international official visit.

Earlier this year, the president reduced the entourage on foreign trips for the president, vice-president and other top officials in order to implement cost-cutting measures.

The president instructed that local security agencies should be used for his protection whenever he travels to any state instead of taking a high number of security officials from Abuja.

During international trips, not more than 20 people will be allowed to travel with the president. However, the number of accompanying staff will be cut down to five for the first lady and vice president. The same applies to the vice president's wife.
