Let President Tinubu Know The True Condition Of Nigeria, Ex-Governor Tells APC Chairman

Former Ekiti Gov. Kayode Fayemi has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman to let President Bola Tinubu know the true state of affairs and feedback from Nigerians, rather than the information he receives within the confines of the presidential villa, Aso Rock.

Speaking at the public presentation of a book, titled "APC & Transition Politics" penned by Salihu Lukman, former vice-chairman of the party in the north-west, Fayemi said the book should be a compulsory read by all members of the National Working Committee at the national, state, local government and ward levels for "rebuilding process of this organic party."

Fayemi said the APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje should convey the "truth" to the president rather than just praising his actions.

"The party leader should be the one to tell our president this is the feedback from the communities and constituencies out there. Not what he is hearing in the villa where he is locked out," Fayemi said, Punch reported.

In response, Ganduje, who was also present at the event, said the ruling party "is an institution which should be well-structured and repositioned whereby it serves a two-way traffic," The Cable reported.

"First, as an institution that is in charge of recruitment of appointive and elective officials and also as an institution that is concerned about the implementation of the party's manifesto from the ward level to the national level," he added.

Nigerians have been going through a tough time, especially after the Tinubu administration removed the fuel subsidy on May 29, which increased fuel and food prices across the country. The decision was made when the country was already going through storage of cash due to demonetization.

Ganduje noted that the party would address the demands of the people and "enlighten members of the public about the achievements of the ruling government."

The event was attended by prominent party leaders, including former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole, former party chief Bisi Akande and APC national secretary Sen. Ajibola Basiru, among others.

In August, President Tinubu said it was necessary to make some bold decisions to build a "great nation." Even though those decisions might seem painful at first, they will eventually help future generations.
