Eid-El-Maulud: President Tinubu Appeals For ‘Full Support’ of Nigerians

In the wake of the Eid-el-Maulud celebration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu urged all Nigerians to fully support his administration in the form of patriotism, patience, and prayers.

Special Adviser to the President, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement on Monday, mentioning President Tinubu's congratulatory message to all Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud.

"Nigeria has arrived at an important juncture. While the government is taking all necessary measures to make the country secure and economically viable, we need the full support of the citizenry in the form of patriotism, patience, and prayers," the President said. "The light is certainly bright at the end of the tunnel."

The president also urged all Muslims to follow the path of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and make deliberate efforts to adhere to his teachings. "There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility, and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet," he added.

Aside from Tinubu, Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima also wished all Muslims happy and remarkable Eid-el-Maulud celebrations, marking the Holy Prophet's birthday, adding that his teachings, predominantly on tolerance, sacrifice, peaceful coexistence, abstinence, honesty, and generosity are engraved in hearts.

In a separate statement, the vice president noted that the Nigerians are currently going through "temporary challenges" and asked them to "keep faith with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, which is targeted at making a difference in the lives of our people."

He assured that everyone is a part of the vision of a better Nigeria and everyone "must show astounding resilience in the responsibility of building the Nigeria" of dreams."

"I believe strongly, that with mutual commitment and joint efforts, we will surmount every setback and collectively walk and march hand in hand our great nation to its rightful place and position amongst comity of nations," he continued.

Nigerians are going through tough times since fuel subsidy removal was announced by Tinubu on May 29. Since the announcement was made, fuel and food prices skyrocketed and created a negative impact on youngsters as they went on to loot government warehouses for food and non-food items.

Considering the petrol price, used by most Nigerians on a daily basis to commute, it increased from N195 per liter to N600 per liter. Transport company, Uber also announced in June that it has increased fares following subsidy removal to ensure that drivers can cover their fuel costs and deal with inflation.
