Boko Haram Jihadists Kill 13 People In Northeast Nigeria

At least 13 people were killed in two separate attacks by Boko Haram Jihadists in the villages of Wulari and Maiwa in northeastern Nigeria's Borno.

The terrorist group attacked a military base in the Wulari village on Saturday and killed three soldiers during the gun battle. On the same day, the group shot 10 farmers in Maiwa village while they were working in their fields.

One of the militia leaders named Ibrahim Liman said that Boko Haram jihadists took advantage of the darkness and cornfields to attack the base.

"The Boko Haram terrorists used the cover of darkness and cornfields that are nearing harvest to launch the attack on the base," Liman said, Barrons reported. "The soldiers engaged them in a fierce battle in which three soldiers were killed before the attack was subdued and the gunmen forced to withdraw."

Babakura Kolo, who is also a militia leader, shared that the terrorist group follows the same strategy of attacking before sunrise.

Liman pointed out that four farmers are still missing from the village and presuming that they have been kidnapped by the terrorist.

The armed conflict in North-east Nigeria is going on since 2009 between the Boko Haram extremist group and the government. So far, the conflict has resulted in the death of more than 350,000 people, as per multiple reports.

Boko Haram is responsible for bombings, kidnappings, and the abduction of schoolgirls in north-eastern Nigeria to Herder-Farmer conflicts.

Nigeria has been affected by several internal conflicts including the Boko Haram insurgency. The attacks from bandits increased in the early 2020s. In April 2022, more than 150 were killed in Plateau State by a gang of bandits

Aside from the killings, there are many other reasons for Nigerians to struggle such as surging inflation, impacts of the Russia-Ukraine war, the currency redesign policy, slow post-COVID-19 recovery, and unprecedented floods last year.

The condition is so bad that four Nigerians were rescued by Brazilian police earlier this month from a Cargo Ship when they were trying to escape Nigeria due to various difficulties in the country including inflation and persistent violence.
